› Tampa-based restaurant chain set to expand in region
Green Market Cafe, a 10-year-old restaurant group based in Tampa, is set to open a new location later this month in Trinity and seeks a franchisee to operate it. Owned by Andrew Koumi, the company has four fast-casual restaurants in the Tampa Bay region. They serve a menu consisting of freshly made salads, bowls, wraps and sandwiches. Green Market Cafe also operates a popular corporate catering service, according to a press release.

› Florida auto-industry leader Manuel Villamanan has died
Manuel “Manolo” Villamanan, who capped a four-decades long career in the auto-industry, died on October 12. He was 85 years old. Mr. Villamanan was the Co-Founder and President of Midway Ford, and ultimately became the CEO of South Motors and Vista Motors in South Florida.

› Loss of state funding endangers septic-to-sewer switch for homes near Wekiwa Springs
The Florida Department of Environmental Protection has reneged on a promise to give $2.2 million to help home-owners switch from septic tanks to sewers in the fragile Wekiwa Springs area of Orange County, a project intended to improve the health of the waters. Orange County Commissioner Christine Moore said the loss of state money could kill the project.

› Artists sought for Sarasota mural commissions
Mural artists are invited to help bring attention to issues surrounding early childhood development in a new project in Sarasota. First 1,000 Days Sarasota County, a community initiative to improve the health and well-being of babies and families, has issued a call to artists to use their creativity to touch on The Basics, a series of steps that help with a child’s development. They will be depicted in three commissioned murals.
