Power fully restored to Florida residents hit by Michael
Utilities are reporting that all power has been restored in the Florida counties devastated by Hurricane Michael. The utility companies and cooperatives reported to the Public Service Commission that they had zero outages for the first time since the Category 4 hurricane made landfall almost a month ago. Thousands of racing greyhounds in Florida will need new homes by end of 2020
Florida voters dealt a surprisingly decisive blow to greyhound racing, approving a measure that’ll ban the sport in their state. With a majority of the nation's dog tracks slated to close by the end of 2020, young greyhounds that never make it to the track will need homes too. [NBC News]
Florida among top states for manufacturing growth in U.S.
Florida ranks among the nation’s top 10 states for manufacturing. The state is home to more than 19,000 manufacturers employing more than 331,000 workers. Florida’s manufacturers produce a wide variety of goods including aerospace products, batteries, communications equipment, pharmaceuticals, semiconductors, boats and more. Here’s what a recount in Florida would look like
Recounts are the talk of Florida politics, with the races for U.S. Senate and Florida Agriculture Commissioner — as well as a smattering of smaller races — all within a razor-thin margin. Statewide results have to be reported to the state elections office before a recount can be ordered. Between provisional and other late ballots, it might be this weekend before results are in. › Venture X to open office-sharing space in Palm Beach Gardens
Office-sharing startup Venture X is opening a location at PGA Boulevard and U.S. 1 in Palm Beach Gardens, its second coworking space in Palm Beach County. Prices are $280 a month for a shared desk, $500 a month for a personal desk in an open seating area and $750 a month for a private office.
› Bye bye offices, hello more condos in Tampa’s 50-plus-story Riverwalk Place
When developer Larry Feldman announced plans for a mixed-used tower abutting Tampa’s Riverwalk three years ago, it called for 14 floors of office space. No more. Feldman and Two Roads Development, partners in Riverwalk Place, revealed that the 50-plus story tower will be totally residential except for restaurants on the ground floor.
› Repairs from AutoNation service centers will come with AAA 'stamp of approval'
Fort Lauderdale-based AutoNation, the nation’s largest auto retailer, on Wednesday announced a new partnership with AAA on auto repair certification. AutoNation is AAA's first national “Approved Auto Repair” program partner, with more than 220 service centers currently under the program.
