› Pensacola City Council to consider mooring field study for economic, environmental gain
There’s a project being discussed currently between Pensacola's mayor and city council members to possibly bring a mooring field to the city to safely dock boats. Pensacola Mayor D.C. Reeves says the project could be a big boost for the economy. But it would first require a “Mooring Field Study” that comes with a pretty hefty price tag.
› Federal Trade Commission says Tapestry-Capri merger harms employees
The Federal Trade Commission filed a lawsuit April 22 to block Tapestry Inc.’s $8.5 billion acquisition of Capri Holdings Ltd., saying it would not only hurt consumers but also the companies’ employees. New York-based Tapestry’s operations include a 1.05 million-square-foot facility at the Jacksonville International Tradeport near Jacksonville International Airport, which distributes Coach brand products in North America.
› Orlando firm designs Dragon Ball theme park in Saudi Arabia
A themed-entertainment design company in Orlando is planning and creating a major theme park in Saudi Arabia. Falcon’s Creative Group is turning Dragon Ball, a Japanese manga franchise, into a real-life experience expected to be a few acres larger than Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom theme park. The attraction is part of the Qiddiya City development, an entertainment push by the Saudi government.
› Microsoft, Disney execs to speak at rebranded PR conference in Tampa
The Florida Public Relations Association has rebranded its annual conference — with a goal of making the event a go-to professional development spot for public relations and related professions statewide. The 2024 event, now dubbed the PR & Comms Summit, is scheduled for Aug. 4-7 at the Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay.
