› A 3-story aquarium is rising along a Florida highway. What’s going inside? Take a look
Over the next several months, the towering multi-story building near a Florida shopping mall should begin to look less like a construction site and more like an aquarium. This time next year, the $130 million Mote Science Education Aquarium should be open to visitors if everything goes according to plan. The aquarium is being build near Interstate 95 in Sarasota County.
› Chances of Northeast Florida landing automated vehicle plant estimated at 50-50
The city’s top economic development administrator said he believes Jacksonville has at least a 50-50 chance of landing Project Link, the city’s code name for an undisclosed company seeking incentives to manufacture parts and assemble electric autonomous vehicles in Northeast Florida.
› Bonati Spine Institute founder files $500M suit against state after shutdown
The founder of the Bonati Spine Institute in Pasco County filed a federal lawsuit Wednesday against state regulators seeking more than $500 million in damages after they temporarily shut down his Hudson surgical center last year. The lawsuit, lodged against the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration and three of its employees, alleges they defamed spine surgeon Alfred Bonati and his companies.
› Pensacola set to increase hourly parking fees. How much, and why
After raising parking fines earlier this year, Pensacola is moving forward with its plan to raise the hourly parking fee to $1 an hour. The Pensacola City Council is set to vote on the proposed increase Thursday. The price increase was one of the recommended changes in a parking consultant's report presented to the City Council in October.
