› Fort Lauderdale city manager calling it quits
Most people have one boss. Fort Lauderdale City Manager Greg Chavarria has five — for now. Chavarria, who took over as city manager nearly two years ago, made a surprise announcement late Tuesday at the tail end of a commission meeting: He’s stepping down from his $291,000-a-year job.

› Mayo Clinic in Florida requests rezoning to expand Jacksonville campus by 210 acres
Mayo Clinic in Florida is closer to incorporating its 210-acre North Campus property, boosting its 38-year-old San Pablo Road medical center to 579.21 acres. The Prosser Prime AE civil engineering group applied to the city in February to rezone the property as part of the Mayo Clinic Development of Regional Impact. Mayo Clinic wants to consolidate all previous Planned Unit Development ordinances on the combined campus property.

› Ambitious group aims to bring children’s museum to Sarasota
It’s been more than a decade since a museum specifically designed for children has called Sarasota home. The closing of kid-focused science museum GWIZ (Gulfcoast Wonder and Imagination Zone) in 2012 left a hole on the local landscape. Now a group of ambitious women are working to fill that hole by establishing the Sarasota Children’s Museum.

› Battle with developer may slow new Miami-Dade Courthouse
Money issues may strangle a planned October completion of the new county Civil and Probate Courthouse on Flagler Street downtown as Miami-Dade and the builder trade claims. Mediation Feb. 7 “resulted in an impasse,” said Kathy Labrada, chief efficiency and compliance officer for the Internal Services Department. The matter is slated for review in late April.
