› Brightline reports $192 million net loss in 1st nine months of 2023
In spite of rising ridership and revenue, Miami-based private train service Brightline still finished hundreds of million of dollars in the red in the first nine months of 2023. According to Brightline's latest quarterly unaudited financial statement report released Dec. 29, Brightline posted a net and comprehensive loss of $192.2 million between Jan. 1 and Sept. 30.
› JetBlue to begin service to Tallahassee
New year, new airline for Florida's capital city. JetBlue Airways will begin service to Tallahassee, beginning on Thursday, January 4. So far, it will only have flights between Florida’s capital city and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. “This new service is the result of strategic investments in our airport and a focus on building strong business relationships to bring value to our community and further establish Tallahassee as a hub for economic activity,” Tallahassee Mayor John Dailey said in a statement.

› St. Petersburg bank names new CEO and president
St. Petersburg-based BayFirst Financial, parent company of BayFirst National Bank, says it appointed Thomas Zernick as CEO. The bank says in a Tuesday news release that it also named Robin Oliver as its president and chief operating officer, effective Monday.
