› Florida ranks #5 on the list of one of the most dangerous states to drive
According to analysis of data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Florida ranks #5 on the list for the most dangerous states for driving during the holidays. The holidays are a time to celebrate the season and hit the road to visit family and friends, causing an increase in vehicles on the road which can lead to an increase in travel-related accidents.

› How Orlando U.S. Marathon Trials event will impact downtown
The U.S. Olympic Team Trials — Marathon will close multiple downtown roads during Feb. 3. Greater Orlando Sports Commission has mailed out a road closure map to multiple businesses and residents who are located along the course. The event, which starts Feb. 3 at 10 a.m., will include one 2.2-mile loop and three 8-mile loops. Roughly 60,000 to 100,000 spectators are expected to be along the race course.

› Jacksonville extends bidding deadline on Jaguars' 'Stadium of the Future'-related contract
The city of Jacksonville is extending its deadline for bids on a contract to provide the city with expertise in planning and preconstruction issues related to potential stadium improvements for the Jacksonville Jaguars. After the original deadline passed at 2 p.m. Dec. 20, the city reported that bids would be accepted until 2 p.m. Jan. 10 under the extension.

› Ybor residents tell Tampa City Council: Don’t approve this liquor license
Ybor City residents are urging Tampa council members to deny an alcohol license application from a business on the historic district’s main entertainment strip, claiming that another approval of a license will hold back the neighborhood’s family-friend renaissance. Approving the application will encourage “lackluster daytime tourism, an overextended police force, pounding noise, and nighttime violence,” the board of the Historic Ybor Neighborhood Civic Association wrote.
