› Duke Energy to bring unique green tech solution to Volusia County
Duke Energy Corp. (NYSE: DUK) plans to build a first-of-its-kind green hydrogen system at its existing facility in DeBary. The combustion turbine will be the first such system deployed anywhere. The hydrogen system is part of Vision Florida, a program that also includes the company’s first floating solar array, a pilot underway at the Hines generating station in Polk County.
› $1 million grant to Florida Center will add staff, make capital improvements
For 44 years, the Florida Center for Early Childhood has been a leader in providing early education and therapeutic services for young children in Southwest Florida. A $1 million grant from the Charles & Margery Barancik Foundation will enhance its ability to provide high quality services, just as needs in the region and demand for those services are growing.

A group dedicated to suicide prevention in Marion County is trying to make a difference in the lives of some local veterans. Each year, they accept nominations for veterans who would be good candidates, and give out free vehicles to the winners. This year, the organizers have two motorcycles that will belong to veterans by mid-November.
