› Tampa approves deal to save historic Jackson House
Tampa City Council today unanimously approved a land swap deal with 717 Parking that will enable restoration of downtown’s historic Jackson House to begin. To create a city-required 10-foot fire code buffer between property boundaries, the restoration required the 717 Parking to provide to the Jackson House 2,100 square feet of their neighboring surface lots.

Lead emissions at Fort Lauderdale Executive airport are estimated to be significantly greater than previous calculations, according to a new study contracted by the airport last month. But the actual amount of lead in the air and in surrounding neighborhoods remains unknown.

Hundreds of millions of dollars in privateprojects may be moving forward following Orange County leaders' approval of the $560 million first-phase expansion of the Orange County Convention Center. The Hilton Orlando, Hyatt Regency Orlando and properties of Rosen Hotels & Resorts have expansions in the works reliant on the center’s expansion, according to a presentation of the convention center project on Oct. 3. The convention center's expansion is estimated to cost $900 million, split into two phases.

› Changes approved to stone crab trap regulations this season
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission approved changes to its regulations for both the 2023-24 and 2024-25 stone crab seasons. The regulations, which were approved during the commission's October meeting, specifically affect the requirements for escape rings for recreational and commercial stone crab traps.
