› Hillsborough firefighter raises total 29% in new 3-year deal
Hillsborough County firefighters will receive 29% salary boosts under the terms of a new three-year contract. The raises, both merit step increases and cost-of-living adjustments, will bring starting pay for an entry-level firefighter from $46,300 to $55,386 over the life of the contract. The deal covers the 1,089 positions covered by the International Association of Firefighters Local 2294.

› Jetport in Everglades could be urban air mobility test site
A Miami-Dade test site for unmanned urban air mobility aircraft is on the runway and awaiting takeoff with a county commission vote directing the mayor to find a site for flight tests and report to commissioners in 45 days. The legislation from Commissioner Jean Monestime cited the Everglades Jetport – officially the Dade-Collier Training and Transportation Airport – as available and appropriate for tests.

› Margaritaville at Sea launches free cruises for military, vets, first responders, teachers
The revamped Margaritaville at Sea cruise ship is sure to get a little more full as it rolls out a new “Heroes Sail Free” program to offer free trips to active military, veterans, first responders and teachers. The Margaritaville Paradise debuted with its new Jimmy Buffett-themed offerings this past spring, a makeover of what had been Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line’s Grand Classica, a 53,000-gross-ton, 1,308-passenger vessel that sails from the Port of Palm Beach on two-night voyages to Grand Bahama Island, what the line refers to as a “micro-cation.”

› Zero Latency building-out virtual reality venue in Jacksonville
The city issued a permit Sept. 6 for Skyline Construction Inc. to build-out the Zero Latency a virtual reality entertainment venue in Baymeadows Junction in Jacksonville. Skyline will renovate 5,030 square feet of space for Zero Latency at 8206 Philips Highway, No. 27, at a cost of $175,850. Baymeadows Junction is a 150,665-square-foot retail center at southeast Philips Highway and Baymeadows Road. It is owned by Ash Properties.
