› Land scarcity drives up industrial rents in Miami-Dade
The industrial real estate market continues to be a hot topic in Miami-Dade as land is scarce and rental rates averages increase, according to local industry experts. The market is in such demand due to a combination of increased e-commerce, warehousing and logistics, said Louis Archambault, partner for law firm Saul Ewing Arnstein & Lehr, which advises commercial real estate developers, lenders, sellers, owners and investors across Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties.

› Pasco commission approves incentives for Lacoochee industrial site
Known only as “Project Lexus,” a proposed light-manufacturing facility planned for a 33-acre property in Lacoochee got several important pushes forward by the Pasco County Commission on Tuesday. The project on property currently owned by One Lacoochee Center, received both a $723,400 economic incentive to construct a new rail connection and the industrial rezoning needed to build a 150,000-square-foot light industrial manufacturing facility.

› Brevard County Commissioners move towards big rate increase for garbage collection by 2025
Brevard County residents could pay nearly 22% more for waste collection services over the next three years to help fund future county infrastructure projects and ongoing operational expenses. Commissioners voted to approve advertising a public hearing for a proposed 9% rate increase in solid waste beginning in October, hiking rates more than $5 annually per residential household, from $57 to $62.13, and over $15, from $164.51 to $179.32 per year, for businesses for fiscal year 2023.

› Spirit reducing system’s spring and summer flights in bid to curb cancellations
Spirit Airlines intends to reduce its flight schedules in the spring and summer months as it joins other air carriers that are trying to reduce unexpected cancellations and delays that have plagued the industry — and travelers — for months. Airline spokesman Erik Hofmeyer confirmed Wednesday that the Miramar-based carrier is using a tactic deployed by other carriers by “adjusting their schedules to provide additional flexibility during the busy travel season.”
