Weather forces SpaceX to scrub Starlink launch; next attempt this weekend
SpaceX teams at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station stood down from a Falcon 9 rocket launch early Friday and re-targeted this weekend for the next attempt. A batch of 53 Starlink internet satellites is now slated for liftoff from Launch Complex 40 at 7:19 a.m. Saturday, an instantaneous window that means Falcon 9 must fly exactly on time or scrub to another day. Conditions for that attempt, according to the Space Force, are likely to be 80% "go" for liftoff. More from Florida Today.
FIS disappointed in sliding stock price
Fidelity National Information Services Inc., or FIS, has grown into Jacksonville’s largest company and a global powerhouse in financial technology. However, Wall Street doesn’t seem to be impressed. “While our team continues to execute at a very high level, our share price is clearly not performing well,” CEO Gary Norcross said Nov. 4 during FIS’ quarterly conference call with analysts. To save starving manatees, wildlife authorities consider supplemental feedings
Wildlife authorities are bracing for more manatee deaths this winter, after a record 974 have perished so far this year in Florida waters. Many of the deaths have been in the Indian River Lagoon. This South Florida spot was just named one of the best farmers’ markets in the country
Yellow Green Farmers Market in Hollywood was just named one of the best farmers’ markets in the country. Travel website Holidu, which specializes in vacation rentals, took a look around the United States to consider more than 1,500 farmers’ markets from all states and proclaimed that Yellow Green was the second-best farmers’ market in all the land. Entrepreneur: dying drive-in movie business worth saving
Chip Sawyer doesn’t mind if you’ve got questions about an under-30 corporate executive who owns two drive-in theaters. “Acquaintances say, ‘Oh? Is the drive-in still open?’ Of course it’s still open — and still playing first run movies, too,” he says. Sawyer was 24-years-old, freshly graduated from Florida Southern College and employed in Publix’s corporate finance office in 2017 when he took over the 70-year-old drive-in theater his late grandfather operated for nearly 60 years and owned for 20.
