COVID-19 affected travel plans for 76% of Floridians

New research from AAA shows the coronavirus has impacted 2020 travel plans for 76 percent of Floridians. This is according to the results of the AAA Consumer Pulse survey on travel, conducted in late May. While about 40 percent of Florida travelers had to reschedule at least one trip this year, 39 percent say they cancelled a trip with no plans to reschedule. More from WINK News and WKMG.

Big questions remain to be answered for Jacksonville hosting Republican National Convention

With just 68 days until Jacksonville hosts the Republican National Convention, questions swirl around the most high-profile event to hit the city since it welcomed the Super Bowl in 2005. Cities usually have two years to mesh all the moving parts of a hosting a national political convention, but Jacksonville will have just two months after the Republican National Committee decided last Thursday to move most of its convention to Jacksonville from Charlotte, N.C. Orlando welcomes visitors with new, enhanced theme parks & attraction safety measures

Orlando — the most-searched destination on Expedia for a trip in the next six months — is now welcoming visitors with new expanded safety measures as its theme parks, attractions, hotels and restaurants resume operations. Many are now open, with more added daily or scheduled in the coming weeks. The reopened businesses include enhanced safety procedures from CDC and health officials guidelines, as well as many additional measures and formal programs from the industry's most trusted brands. Tampa port lands $20 million grant to expand container berth

The U.S. Department of Transportation this week awarded Port Tampa Bay a $19.8 million grant to help expand its shipping container operations by 60 percent. The grant allows the port to move up a $55 million project to build a new 1,300-foot-long berth and a 30-acre container yard at Berth 214. When complete, the berth will be able to handle more deep-draft vessels with direct rail and trucking connections. More from the Tampa Bay Times.

Pro Bowl moving from Orlando to Las Vegas in 2021

 The Pro Bowl is leaving Orlando for at least one year. The NFL announced Tuesday the 2021 Pro Bowl will be held at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on Jan. 31. It will air on ESPN, ABC and ESPN Deportes. The Pro Bowl was played at Orlando's Camping World Stadium for four consecutive seasons starting in 2016. While the game was often marred by poor weather, NFL officials generally gave Central Florida positive reviews.
