› Thousands of South Florida workers to be hired for 2020 Census taking
Want to make some extra cash this spring? Uncle Sam can help you. The U.S. Census Bureau is recruiting some 500,000 workers nationwide, including more than 14,500 in South Florida. Hiring begins in January.

› New Sarasota startup eyes affordable housing option
A Sarasota startup company’s founder wants to modernize modular housing construction by repurposing shipping containers to address Florida’s affordable housing shortage. Innovar Structures LLC leased a 55,000-square-foot former Winn-Dixie supermarket in Hardee County and is retooling the space into a modular housing factory.
› Orange County snooping in recycling containers again
Orange County’s solid waste division started nosing in curbside recycling bins again this month as part of a 12-week program to improve countywide recycling. Using a $193,000 grant, the county hired contractors to inspect the contents of curbside recycling carts of 36,000 homes in various neighborhoods from Avalon Park to Hunters Creek.
