› Universal Orlando pledges 20 acres of land to build as many as 1,000 affordable housing units in tourism corridor
On the eve of a crucial vote for its new theme park, Universal Orlando announced Monday it will dedicate 20 acres of its land to build about 1,000 affordable-housing units to help address Central Florida’s housing crisis. Universal also said it will set aside about 3 acres of its land to be used for mass-transit connections.

› City of Weeki Wachee closer to disbanding?
A committee of the state Legislature last week voted unanimously to conduct an operational audit of the city of Weeki Wachee to determine whether it has the authority to conduct city business. The vote came at the request of State Rep. Blaise Ingoglia, R-Spring Hill. Members also wanted to know how the tiny city, with a population of 13, has an outstanding bill topping $1 million.

› City Council won’t speed up JEA sales process
As Jacksonville City Council prepares to go into uncharted waters for the potential sale of JEA, council President Scott Wilson told fellow council members Sunday they should take no action until after they finish a series of workshops scheduled to run through May about JEA’s future.

› Selby Foundation gives $75,000 to improve preschools
The William G. and Marie Selby Foundation donated more than $75,000 to the Florida Center for Early Childhood to improve building security and playground safety at two Sarasota and North Port preschool campuses. The Florida Center, which provides early education and therapeutic services to children ages 0-8, plans to purchase a security system, locks and new windows for both its campuses.
