› Florida municipal utilities break ground on massive solar energy project
Twelve municipal utilities and the Florida Municipal Power Association broke ground Monday morning for a massive, new solar-energy project that should provide enough electricity to power 45,000 homes. The project, a partnership with the FMPA, the participating utilities, and Florida Renewable Partners will involve more than 900,000 solar panels, cover as much ground in Orange and Osceola counties as 900 football fields, and be able to generate 223.5 megawatts of zero-emissions energy.

› ‘Ugly Produce’ Delivery Company Begins Shipping to Florida
Misfits Market, an organic produce delivery company based in Philadelphia, may call the fruits and vegetables that it ships out around the U.S. “ugly,” but often enough, you have to look closely to see how it’s any different from the products you’ll find on a grocery store shelf.

› Fluent opens second medical marijuana center in Jacksonville
Medical cannabis provider Cansortium Inc. continues to expand its Florida footprint with the opening of its second Fluent dispensary in Jacksonville. Fluent, formerly Knox Medical but with the same ownership and new name/brand, now is operating in Arlington at 9510 Atlantic Blvd. The 3,700-square-foot dispensary is the company’s 17th in Florida.

› Jeff and Penny Vinik donate $1 million for Jackson House
Thirty years since the final guests stayed at the Jackson House, Tampa Bay Lightning owner Jeff Vinik and his wife, Penny, have given $1 million to preserve the historic rooming house that sheltered African American visitors during segregation.
