Florida does not score high in study of children's health care
A new report from WalletHub, "2017's Best & Worst State's for Children's Health Care," finds that Florida ranks low in many metrics. Statistics from the report rank Florida #37 overall out of 50 states and the District of Columbia. Florida is in the bottom 10 states in areas of overall child health, uninsured children, high medical bills for families of children, dental care and preventive health care for both medical and dental. Florida was not in the top 5 or 10 state list in any metric.
About the study: The study looked at which states offer the most cost-effective and highest-quality health care for children. States were compared across 28 key metrics. The data set ranges from share of children aged 0 to 17 in excellent or very good health -- to pediatricians and family doctors per capita.

- 12th – % of Overweight Children Aged 10–17
- 12th – % of Obese Children Aged 10–17
- 46th – % of Children Aged 1–17 with Excellent/Very Good Teeth
- 45th – % of Children Aged 0–17 with Medical & Dental Preventive-Care Visits in Past Year
