› State cuts arts and culture funding 47% in new budget
It's a year after they enjoyed record funding, Florida’s arts and cultural organizations will suffer a 47 percent cut in the coming budget for ongoing and new or special programs next year.

› Demand for hotels booming
On the heels of a record-breaking tourism season in Sarasota and Manatee counties, hotel occupancy rates are similarly flirting with all-time highs nationwide.

› Nonstop flights to N. Ireland coming to Orlando
International carriers Virgin Atlantic and Thomas Cook Airlines will both start flight service to Belfast, Northern Ireland's capital and largest city.

› Port Canaveral rejects study of maglev train
Port Canaveral commissioners on Wednesday unanimously rejected a proposal to allow a company to study the feasibility of introducing a magnetic-levitation train system in and around the port.
