Measuring Quality
The Jacksonville Community Council’s annual Quality of Life Progress Report tracks progress on key community priorities to help guide policy and public funds to where they’re most needed. This year’s report — the 23rd — showed improvement in education, the economy, transportation and public safety but raised lots of red flags as well, such as the fact that fewer than 60% of residents report feeling safe walking alone at night in their neighborhoods. One positive: The region has managed to keep annual job growth above the statewide average, which was 1.7% in 2006.
