Harris Corp.'s Newest Contracts, Deals

Melbourne-based Harris Corp. has landed the following contracts:

» A 10-year, $600-million deal from the Army to modernize satellite communications equipment.

» A contract worth as much as $50 billion over 10 years by the U.S. General Services Administration to perform information technology work for federal agencies.

» A contract with McDonald’s to launch a pilot program creating a branded TV channel for in-house viewing at 20 restaurants in the

fast-food chain.

» A deal with the Orlando Magic NBA team to create a first-of-its-kind broadcast and IT system that will make the new Orlando Events Center the most technologically advanced arena when it opens in mid-2010.

The defense contractor has also announced:

» A deal to pay $675 million for Wireless Systems, a business segment of Tyco Electronics, which provides communications technology for police, fire and rescue, and public service organizations.

» It has acquired Virginia-based Crucial Security, which provides

IT security support to government agencies.

» The company has been named one of the world’s 99 most ethical companies for 2009 by the Ethisphere Institute.
