At the Florida Justice Association, the largest professional trade group for trial lawyers working in Florida, General Counsel William Cotterall has served five years. He provides legal advice and strategic guidance and manages contract negotiations. He is on a team that reviews legislative proposals and lobbies legislators on issues critical to the practice of law, and he provides subject area testimony before the Legislature. Cotterall oversees association policies and procedures, is its chief negotiator and has received the group’s President’s Award. Prior to becoming general counsel, Cotterall was a trial lawyer for 17 years; he now serves as liaison to the National Association of Trial Lawyers.
