The space industry is heading for consolidation

The space industry is heading toward a period of consolidation that could shake up the space economy in the short term but create a leaner, more nimble industry in the process. In the last few years, new funding emerged from flush investors and was up for grabs for a range of startups, from those with relatively unproven ideas to more well-established companies. Now, funding streams are narrowing and favoring those with proven business models. More from Axios.

Hurricane center predicts tropical system to form in far Atlantic

The National Hurricane Center expects a tropical wave to soon form off the coast of Africa in the far eastern Atlantic with a chance it could form into the season’s next tropical depression or storm. PortMiami lures sea-rail freight deals with Mexico

PortMiami and Grupo Mexico Transportes, which acquired Florida East Coast (FEC) Railway, were hosting 120 Mexican companies and government officials at Terminal E this week to promote PortMiami as a preferred gateway for Mexican products, said a PortMiami spokesperson. “We believe these efforts will make the new USMCA Highway a rail/water/rail route to avoid congestion and truck idling that products headed to Florida currently experience at the land border, since 97% of all Mexican cargo coming into Florida arrives through the border,” said the spokesperson. Orlando Science Center: ‘Dogs!’ exhibit barks up right tree

A recently installed exhibit at Orlando Science Center addresses several burning questions, including “Are you faster than a chihuahua?” and “Is this slobbery ball yours?” “Dogs! A Science Tail” explores what makes canines tick and their relationships with humans on scientific terms. It gets into DNA but also into everyday occurrences such as the zoomies or, as the display calls them, “frenetic random activity periods.”
