JPMorgan is growing in Florida and Texas, states that ‘like business,’ Dimon says

JPMorgan Chase & Co. is expanding in Florida, opening branches in a state that’s seen an increased influx of Wall Street firms since the pandemic. “We love Florida, we’re growing in Florida left and right,” the bank’s Chief Executive Officer Jamie Dimon told Bloomberg Television Monday in an interview from Miami. YouTube competitor opens new Longboat Key headquarters

The California tech company party balloon has landed on Longboat Key — along with a sweet bottle of rum. The rum comes from Rumble. The publicly traded video-sharing platform, which rose to national prominence by catering to a conservative-leaning audience, especially during the pandemic, officially opened its new U.S. corporate headquarters Feb. 27 on Longboat Key. Central Florida homes on Citizens Insurance shoot up by 159%

Once the option mostly for vulnerable properties on the coasts, Citizens is writing an exploding number of policies within inland Central Florida, and experts expect the trend to accelerate for the foreseeable future. Over the past year, Citizens’ home policies have grown from 756,219 to 1.5 million, according to the company. The counties of Orange, Osceola, Seminole and Lake grew to nearly 75,000 policies, an increase of 159% from the previous year. More from the Orlando Sentinel.

Florida spring breakers may be impacted by red tide in Tampa Bay

With Tampa Bay area beach communities and the tourism industry quickly approaching their busiest season, the early arrival of red tide has both visitors and businesses worried about its effects. The latest reports from state environmental officials say the algal bloom has drifted as far north as Sand Key, just south of Clearwater Beach, and they're concerned winds from the south will continue pushing it further up the Pinellas coast. Minor leaguers could take minimum wage hit

Minor league baseball players would be exempt from Florida’s voter-approved minimum wage law under a proposal that has started moving forward in the state Senate. The Senate Commerce and Tourism Committee voted 8-2 on Monday to approve a measure (SB 892) that would incorporate into the state’s minimum-wage law a carve-out for minor-league baseball players in the federal Fair Labor Standards Act.
