› $20 million Port Commerce Center starting construction in North Jacksonville
The city issued a permit Nov. 17 for Vardaman Construction LLC to build the 237,500-square-foot Port Commerce Center on 38 acres in North Jacksonville along Alta Drive, west of Interstate 295. The site address is 10616 Alta Drive. Jason Duck, Vardaman senior project manager, said Nov. 18 the construction cost is about $20 million. Vardaman, of Birmingham, Alabama, is the contractor for developer Growth Capital Partners.
› Orange County uses special event zone during Florida Classic weekend
A new tool to handle pop-up events that can disrupt traffic flow was put to the test following the Florida Classic event on Saturday. Orange County established a special event zone for the weekend. It’s the first time the county has used the designation, which is allowed after a state law went into effect July 1.
› Fort Lauderdale’s newest food hall, Marina Village at Bahia Mar, will float on Intracoastal

› Boston-based Lobstah on a Roll opening in St. Augustine
Boston-based Lobstah on a Roll announced plans for a Nov. 19 soft opening of its St. Augustine restaurant. It is the chain’s third location and the first in Florida. The restaurant, at 34 Granada St., is across the street from the Lightner Museum in the historic Downtown area. “The unique taste of New England will be on display, even in this decidedly more southern setting,” Lobstah on a Roll owner Dave Spinney said in a news release.
