› Riverside property buyer sees Jacksonville as ‘part of the expansion of the South'
Atlanta-based investor Paul Mayberry said May 31 he bought the former Miller Electric Co. headquarters property in Riverside because of its location. He has no immediate plans for development at the 4.3-acre Rosselle Street site, which is at Rosselle, Copeland and Osceola streets, east of Stockton Street and bordered to the north by Interstate 10. “It was a great part of Jacksonville,” Mayberry said when asked why he decided on that site.

› Krate, Wesley Chapel’s shipping container park, debuts in June
A new shopping park made of colorful shipping containers is celebrating its grand opening June 4. Located within the Grove, a strip mall off Interstate 75 in Wesley Chapel, Krate has slowly come to life with shops and restaurants, the first of which opened in September 2021. The grand opening will mark about 70% of businesses ready for the public, developer Mark Gold said, with the rest set to debut over the summer.

› Goodwill Manasota and Gulfcoast Legal Services bring free legal clinics to North Port
A partnership between Goodwill Manasota and Gulfcoast Legal Services will bring free legal clinics to North Port for low-income South County residents. Staff Attorney James Clegg began at Gulfcoast in 2018, the same year that the nonprofit partnered with Goodwill Manasota to offer legal clinics at one of Goodwill's Bradenton stores. As a housing attorney, Clegg is able to provide counsel to those facing eviction.

› Brightline buys $12.5 million property in Cocoa but says nothing about possible station
A big-ticket but quiet land purchase by Brightline could be a signal that the commuter rail enterprise has its eyes on a Space Coast station — though the company so far is silent about its plans for Brevard County. Brightline purchased a $12.5 million piece of property off Clearlake Road in Cocoa right along the railroad last year, according to records from the Brevard County Property Appraiser's office.
