› U.S. moves Florida National Guard troops out of Ukraine
As U.S. President Joe Biden and Russia President Vladimir Putin held a high-stakes telephone call Saturday amid rising tensions around a possible Russian invasion of Ukraine, 160 Florida National Guard troops have been “repositioned,” from Ukraine to elsewhere in Europe. That’s according to a statement from Pentagon Press Secretary John F. Kirby.
› Astra Space rocket crashed into ocean after Space Coast launch
The Astra Space rocket that launched from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station on Thursday but ultimately failed to deliver its payload to orbit ended up crashing into the ocean, according to a report from the Associated Press. The AP stated that the upper stage of the company’s Rocket 3.3 and its four small satellites on board that were being flown as part of a NASA demonstration mission all tumbled into the ocean.
› Inaugural Jacksonville Mayor’s Masked Ball to raise money for Edward Waters University
The United Negro College Fund and Edward Waters University announced the inaugural Jacksonville Mayor’s Masked Ball will be March 18 at the Prime F. Osborn III Convention Center. Mayor Lenny Curry and Edward Waters President A. Zachary Faison, Jr. are co-hosting the event, which hopes to raise $500,000 for UNCF and the historically black college in Northwest Jacksonville.
