The Florida Holocaust Museum Announces 2021 Trunks of Hope Matching Gift Challenge!

| 8/19/2021

The Florida Holocaust Museum (The FHM)  has launched its 7th Annual Trunks of Hope campaign at TheFHM.org/Trunks to ensure teachers and students have the free Holocaust Education tools and resources they need as they return to the classroom. Whether that classroom is at school or at home.
Thanks to the generosity of Amy and Michael Southard through their charitable foundation, Crofton Cares, donations made to this campaign will be matched dollar for dollar up to $25,000!
Holocaust education has never been more important. Right now, Holocaust denial and distortion are rising at an alarming rate as are antisemitic and racist incidents. On May 27, 2021, The Florida Holocaust Museum was targeted by antisemitic vandals who painted swastikas upon its walls with the words, “The Jews are guilty.” We need to equip the next generation to recognize and reject any form of group-based intolerance or prejudice. We need your help to provide FREE quality resources that educators have come to depend on to fulfill the Holocaust education mandate in Florida. Including:

  • Dynamic age-appropriate Teaching Trunks filled to the brim with books and classroom resources. Digital teaching trunks powered by OverDrive and On24 are also now available!
  • Powerful Holocaust Survivor testimony providing first-hand accounts to students making history come alive.
  • Primary sourced curriculum guides helping educators prepare lessons that can be paired with our Museum in-person or virtual tours that include 3D images of select artifacts, audio clips, and more!
  • In-depth educational workshops and self-paced online courses to reach teachers who need guidance on how to teach about the Holocaust

.
Please visit TheFHM.org/Trunks to make your secure online donation.
Remember your gift will be matched dollar for dollar up to $25,000 by Amy and Michael Southard through their charitable foundation, Crofton Cares. Making your gift a recurring gift each month will have even more impact.
This is a moment in history when we need the lessons that Holocaust Survivors have shared with us – lessons of resilience and hope. Thank you for being a part of our #TrunksofHope campaign.
If you’d like to know more about the Teaching Trunks or if you are a teacher who would like to request one for their classroom, visit TheFHM.org/Teaching-Trunks.
Thank you Amy and Michael Southard through their charitable foundation, Crofton Cares.
