» The Jacksonville Civic Council, a non-partisan group formed by local executives to advocate for the city's future, hired Don Shea as its first executive director. Shea, a longtime downtown development official, most recently served as head of the Downtown Development Authority in Shreveport, La.

» The University of Florida named Dr. Tetsuo Ashizawa executive director of the McKnight Brain Institute. Ashizawa was head of the department of neurology in the UF College of Medicine. He replaces Dr. Dennis Steindler, an expert in regenerative medicine who stepped down to return to full-time work as a neuroscientist at UF.
