› Honeyz Plates fruit platter store to open in downtown Jacksonville
Zamirah Towns plans to bring her fruit platters, juices and sandwiches to Downtown Jacksonville this month as she prepares to open Honeyz Plates at 47 W. Adams St. The grab-and-go location will offer customers customized fruit platters; cold tuna, chicken or egg sandwiches; and fresh juices, she said. The platters often are used for events or parties, she said.
› You’re not supposed to walk on the sea oats. But Air Show camera crews did.
The sign atop the sand dune has a clear warning for all passing by: “Dune Protection Area. Do Not Enter.” Yet several TV cameramen and reporters did just that while covering the Fort Lauderdale Air Show over the weekend. A horrified onlooker snapped photos all day Saturday of the camera crews standing on the roped off sand dune amid fragile sea oats, then shared the photos with local officials via email the next morning.
› Public-private Miami administration building deal nears
The City of Miami’s administration team could finally be moving away from the Miami Riverside Center in a public-private development deal with the Adler Group. City commissioners are to vote today (5/13) on whether a new headquarters building will be located as long planned at the Nexus site at 230 SW Third St. This formal decision on the site is necessary for the city to negotiate and finalize agreements before they come before the commission.
› Port Canaveral-bound Norwegian Prima cruise ship details revealed
Norwegian Cruise Line revealed more details about the first of its new class of cruise ships, the Norwegian Prima, which is set to debut in 2022 and make its way to Port Canaveral. “This is our first new ship class in 10 years, so we’re tremendously excited. It’s a complete redesign,” said NCL President and CEO Harry Sommer. “We started with a clean sheet of paper.”
