› Meet seven inventors who have made Florida a ‘powerhouse of innovation’
The inventor of the Segway and a co-inventor of technology that revolutionized modern day computing are among the seven newest inductees in the Florida Inventors Hall of Fame. The 2021 class also includes an engineering professor at University of South Florida who has pioneered advances to decontaminate water and develop biomedical solutions for acute diseases.

› Justice Department recovers $8M in PPP loans obtained by fake family-run ministry in Florida
The government has secured more than $8 million they say was stolen by what they describe as a fake ministry based in Central Florida. Mary Edwards, son Joshua, daughter Joy and Mary’s husband, Evan Edwards are pictured on the back of a book he wrote on how to be “happy” and “successful.” The family nearly bought a $3.8 million mansion in Disney’s Golden Oak Community. The home is on a canal leading to the Magic Kingdom.

› Pinellas tourism group goes Hollywood, produces 8-episode TV series 
When you think of Breaking Bad, you think of Albuquerque, right? How about Detroit and Hill Street Blues? Or when you’re in Boston and want a beer, isn’t Cheers the first place that comes to mind? TV shows and where they are set have long been inseparable, with local skylines and streets, restaurants and car washes in as many scenes as the actors. Before you know it, viewers are clamoring to visit. That’s the magic Visit St. Pete/Clearwater officials hope to duplicate.

› Lowe’s to hire 550 Jacksonville positions
Lowe’s announced it will hire nearly 550 employees in Jacksonville during its May 4 National Hiring Day. It said applicants can visit stores 10 a.m.-7 p.m. May 4. Lowe’s wants to fill seasonal, part-time, and full-time positions for the spring. Open positions include cashiers, retail associates, stockers and receivers, merchandising service associates, drivers, supervisors and pro sales roles.
