› The Forge on Miami Beach has been closed two years. David Grutman is going to reopen it
The Forge is Groot. Nightclub owner David Grutman’s Groot Hospitality, which has been expanding from nightclubs into restaurant ownership over the last five years, will take over The Forge, the historic but shuttered Miami Beach restaurant, a representative told the Miami Herald. The Real Deal first reported Grutman’s involvement.

› Duke Energy reaches milestone with installation of nearly 2 million smart meters in Florida, giving customers more control of energy use
Duke Energy has completed a multiyear effort in Florida to upgrade nearly 2 million customer meters to smart meters – digital meters that offer customers more options and improved service. The new smart meters are part of Duke Energy's commitment to building a smarter energy future. The investment in this digital technology will help the company meet the changing needs and expectations of customers.

› Frontier reaches tentative agreement with Tampa union workers
Frontier Communications Corp. reached a tentative agreement late last week with the union representing a majority of its Tampa Bay employees. The camps have been going back and forth for nearly two years on a new work contract. Deteriorating negotiations just weeks before led members to approve a motion to strike if they could not find common ground. The talks overlap with the company’s ongoing Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization process, during which it gave executives $63 million in bonuses.

› City approves $41 million Amazon system in North Jacksonville
The city issued a permit April 26 for Amazon.com to install a material handling system in its 1 million-square-foot fulfillment center under construction in North Jacksonville at a cost of $41 million. Vanderlande Industries Inc. of Marietta, Georgia, is the contractor for the project at 10501 Cold Storage Road in Imeson Park.
