› Macy’s tells employees it may explore sale of Clearwater call center
Macy’s Clearwater call center jobs have shifted to remote work permanently, according to an internal email obtained by by the Tampa Bay Times. As a result, the retailer told workers in an email it may explore a sale or lease of its building, or portions of it, at 13133 34th Street N.
› DeSantis names Orlando chamber executive as lottery secretary
Gov. Ron DeSantis on Monday named John Davis, executive vice president of the Orlando Regional Chamber of Commerce, to fill the long-vacant position of secretary of the Florida Lottery. Davis, a standout safety in the early 1990s for the Florida State Seminoles football team, has also served as president of the African American Chamber of Commerce of Central Florida and once held a leadership role in the Republican Party of Florida.
› Bradenton EDC to promote sports performance industry with Netherlands
The Bradenton Area Economic Development Corp. has signed an agreement with Orange Sports Forum Foundation, the national body for sports and sports business development in The Netherlands, to host a business delegation and soccer team in Manatee County in April 2021. More than a dozen sports-related businesses from The Netherlands are expected to participate, according to a press release.
› Treehouse hotel project planned for St. Augustine
Two months after completing Bacon Self Storage in St. Johns County, owner Jim Bacon wants to add to the project with a short-term rental community among the trees. Bacon owns the 9.7-acre parcel at 1700 Wildwood Drive off of Florida 207 in St. Augustine where Bacon Self Storage was developed.
