› Amid crisis, restaurant group sees positive sales trends emerging
Bloomin’ Brands Inc. (NASDAQ: BLMN), the Tampa-based parent company of Outback Steakhouse, Carrabba’s Italian Grill, Bonefish Grill and Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar, states in a press release that 92% of its company-owned restaurants have reopened with limited in-restaurant dining capacity.
› Books-A-Million decides to keep Jacksonville Beach store open
A week after hanging a giant “Store Closing” banner above the entrance to its Jacksonville Beach store, a worker arrived at the Books-A-Million store late Friday afternoon to take it down. Books-A-Million announced July 24 it is keeping the store open at South Beach Parkway Plaza after renewing its lease with Sleiman Enterprises.
› Disney World mask rules get updated: no valves, mesh or holes allowed
Disney has clarified its mask policy and won’t allow certain kinds of facial coverings. Coverings with “valves, mesh material or holes of any kind” are not acceptable, according to the recent update on Disney’s website. Also not allowed: “Neck gaiters and open-chin triangle bandanas,” Disney’s rules state. Costume masks are also banned.
› FBI indicts former Jacksonville tech CEO on wire fraud charges, seeks arrest
Jason Cory, the ousted CEO of a company that was once awarded city and state incentives, has been indicted for wire fraud and has a warrant issued for his arrest, according to court records. Cory's attorney, Todd Foster, told the Business Journal on Monday that Cory will be surrendering voluntarily to the FBI and intends to plead not guilty.
