› Developer hopes Wellen Park will create new identity
Six years after it teamed with Vanguard Land Co. to purchase the 9,650 remaining acres of the Thomas Ranch, Mattamy Homes is creating a new identity for an area that had been heavily identified with the West Villages Improvement District. Starting June 8, all the communities will be covered by the halo brand “Wellen Park.”
› Bok Tower Gardens to reopen June 1, use timed-entry tickets
Bok Tower Gardens will reopen to the public on June 1, the Polk County attraction announced Monday. It will use a system of “timed entry,” meaning that visitors will have specific, assigned times to enter. The gardens, including its famed Singing Tower, have been shut since mid-March in response to the coronavirus pandemic.

A new restriction makes panhandling outside a Miami Beach business “temporarily unlawful" under guideline for the Phase 1 Reopening Order. The guidelines, signed Saturday by City Manager Jimmy Morales, said panhandling on public property will be unlawful within 50 feet (15.2 meters) of entrances or service windows of essential businesses, commercial businesses or restaurants.
