Florida consumers get price-gouging refunds

Floridians have received more than $240,000 in refunds from businesses because of inflated prices during the COVID-19 pandemic, Attorney General Ashley Moody said. Florida’s price-gouging hotline has received 3,350 contacts from consumers about potential price gouging. Moody activated the hotline March 10 after Gov. Ron DeSantis declared a state of emergency because of the spread of the deadly respiratory disease. More from WPEC and WJCT.

Even amid coronavirus, SpaceX is still launching. Wednesday’s mission will carry 60 more satellites

SpaceX is set to continue its progress toward a massive telecommunications satellite constellation with the seventh launch of its Starlink spacecraft on Wednesday afternoon. The mission will carry yet another set of 60 internet satellites to low-Earth orbit, ticking off another mission in a busy year for SpaceX. Four Florida cities face greater economic devastation than most, study says

Florida’s four major metros are its economic engines. And according to a new study, those economies stand to take a greater hit than almost any other major U.S. city. Orlando, Miami, Jacksonville and Tampa comprise four of the nation’s most-at-risk large metro economies from the coronavirus, according to data compiled by Volusion, an Austin, Texas-based marketing firm. Miami Grill reinventing itself again

The iconic South Florida restaurant chain that will not die is reinventing itself again. Miami Grill, which grew to nearly 200 restaurants under its former name Miami Subs in the 1990s, has closed enough locations over the years to be part of a long-lost fast food chain photo gallery with the likes of Burger Chef, Red Barn and Taco Viva. Publix to hold virtual job fair as demand increases in stores, and workers test positive

Publix is partnering with Miami Dade College’s Hialeah Campus to hold a virtual career fair to fill open positions at its grocery stores. As novel coronavirus spreads across the state, Publix has seen at least 10 stores in South Florida with positive cases among its employees. The virtual job fair will be held on Blackboard Collaborate at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 23. More from the Miami Herald.
