› Why Millennials Prefer Central Florida’s High-Tech Corridor
Until early this month, when the entire state of Florida went under lockdown, Central Florida’s High-Tech Corridor— the Interstate 4 corridor—hadn’t been showing any signs of slowing down. A dynamic technology sector, as well as the area’s more traditional economic engines—tourism and the entertainment industry—were fueling its resurgence.

› PGA Commons donates $86K to support local businesses
A half-priced gift card promotion at the end of March raised $172,000 to support businesses at PGA Commons during the novel coronavirus pandemic. During the promotion, which was held March 21-27, customers could purchase half-priced gift cards to participating stores, restaurants, and galleries in the plaza. Jon Channing, the president of Channing Corporation, which owns PGA Commons, paid the other $86,000.

› South Florida small business owners frustrated with Wells Fargo, Paycheck Protection Program
Small business owners in South Florida continue to be frustrated by the loan programs meant to help them from the downturn in the economy from the coronavirus. The business owners said they are trying to get a loan through the Paycheck Protection Program, which is "designed to provide a direct incentive for small businesses to keep their workers on the payroll."

› Sarasota campaign — Share The Love Not The Virus — grows quickly
Knickole Barger, co-owner of Knick’s Tavern & Grill in the Southside Village neighborhood, just outside downtown Sarasota, first reacted to the coronavirus pandemic business shutdown like everyone else. Her initial thought: “How are we going to stay in business?” Or, in Barger’s case, “How,” she wondered, “are we going to keep the 14 families who work for us on the payroll?”
