› With Florida trials postponed, some inmates could be behind bars awhile
Many Florida law enforcement agencies are following citation-first policies to keep offenders out of lockups while some county jails are releasing those accused of nonviolent crimes to contain COVID-19 spread among the 150,000 people incarcerated in the state’s prisons and jails.

› Hernando libraries are open for business online
For the time being and in the interest of community health and safety, the Hernando County Public Library System is closed to the public. Patrons should be rest assured, however, that it is only the four brick and mortar library locations whose doors are locked to the public.

› South Florida agribusiness challenges UPS over failure to comply with food safety practices
In response to federal government and CDC guidelines governing the widespread coronavirus pandemic, U.S. Sugar has taken all necessary precautions to protect its workers and its food production facilities. Those precautions include closing its offices to visitors, limiting access to food processing facilities, and increased safety and sanitation requirements throughout the workplace.

› Jacksonville mayor restricts hotel bookings
Jacksonville Mayor Lenny Curry issued an executive order Monday that will restrict hotels and other hospitality businesses from accepting reservations from any non-essential guests. Curry said the executive order will go into effect 5 p.m. Tuesday and will restrict bookings to essential guests, a list of nearly two-dozen groups that includes healthcare workers, first responders, residents who have been forced from their home.
