› Miami-Dade’s first fleet of electric buses draws nearer
Miami-Dade is close to ordering its first fleet of electric buses. The Citizens’ Independent Transportation Trust, which manages the countywide “half-penny” transit tax, last week OK’d spending $72.2 million to buy up to 75 e-buses and charging systems for the county’s three bus maintenance depots.
› Penn Dutch won’t try to reopen, hires insolvency firm to expedite liquidation
Penn Dutch Meat & Seafood Market isn’t going to reopen. The company, a South Florida grocery institution since 1975, has hired an insolvency firm to work with its creditors to expedite the liquidation of its remaining assets.
› Central Florida Film Festival returns to Mount Dora
After a three-week delay, the 14th annual Central Florida Film Festival returns Friday through Sunday at Epic Theatres in Mount Dora. The festival originally was scheduled for the first weekend in September. Brendon Rogers, executive director of the festival, said that Hurricane Dorian’s uncertain path and slow speed forced them to make a judgment call and postpone.
› Madame Tussauds Orlando making room for six James Bonds
It’s Bond. James, James, James, James, James and James Bond. A group of six Bond figures — representing Daniel Craig, Pierce Brosnan, Timothy Dalton, Roger Moore, George Lazenby and Sean Connery — will be moving into Madame Tussauds Orlando for a limited time engagement on Oct. 5.
