» Mark A. Crosswhite is the new president and CEO of Gulf Power Co. He succeeds Susan Story, who has been named president and CEO of Southern Company Services in Atlanta and was a statewide leader.

» Florida State University has hired Elizabeth Swiman as its first director of campus sustainability. Swiman has worked as a community engagement coordinator for FSU's Center for Leadership and Civic Education since 2007.

» U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gary Locke has appointed Paul Hsu to the National Advisory Council on Minority Business Enterprise. Hsu, chairman of the green technology firm Hsu Enterprise Group, previously served on George W. Bush's President's Export Council.
