Every evening, Carol Brooks sheds her 9-to-5 corporate uniform, dons her jeans and hat and hits her back yard to tend to her organic vegetable garden. “The genesis of the organic gardening was a history of Crohn’s and colitis in my family,” she says. “I started doing research, and it led to a real awareness of what we eat, so we began eating organic. Then I just decided I was going to take it to another level and grow it myself.”

Garden: About 40 feet by 5 feet

What’s Growing: Spinach, kale, bok choy, tomatoes and carrots and the beginnings of a grapevine.

Sharing the Health: When she started noticing stress-induced fatigue in her employees, she started an in-office wellness program for them, including yoga classes on company time followed by organic lunches.
