› Brevard County Commission OKs restrictions on pet store sales of dogs, cats to combat puppy mills
County commissioners have approved an ordinance to restrict the sale of dogs and cats at local pet stores. The measure approved last week was modified so much from the version of the ordinance that Vice Chair Bryan Lober proposed in January that some members of the public who supported his initial plan were opposed to the one approved.

› Contaminated soil to cost St. Petersburg $1 million, 15 years after dredging project
For two years starting in 2004, as part of a massive $13-million cleanup of Lake Maggiore, trucks hauled and dumped 1.3 million cubic yards of sediment from the lake bottom to the Gateway area and a sod farm. Fast forward to 2019 and the city of St. Petersburg now is negotiating to spend $1 million to settle a claim that one of the dump sites is contaminated with arsenic.

› Jupiter trail becomes Florida's first autism-friendly natural area
It's the first of its kind in the state of Florida. Recently, the North Jupiter Flatwoods Natural Area was certified as an autism-friendly trail. "It's very calming and very peaceful," Alicia Anderson said. Anderson knows the area well she's an Environmental Analyst for Palm Beach County Environmental Resource Management. Now she's helping others better connect with nature.
