Signs point to coming expansion of medical marijuana in Florida

So far, it appears that newly sworn in Florida lawmakers are taking a sharp turn from former Gov. Rick Scott’s approach to try to limit access to medical cannabis in Florida. The Florida Medical Marijuana Legalization Initiative gave patients the right to use medical marijuana if they have been diagnosed with a qualified medical condition. But its implementation has been controversial. More from WLRN.

Panel puts brakes on efforts to unionize Disney Lyft drivers

A labor relations board has put the brakes on a decision allowing the Teamsters to represent scores of Lyft drivers who haul passengers around the Walt Disney World property in Florida. A National Labor Relations Board panel ruled against the Orlando-based Teamsters local last Friday. More from the AP.

Al Dunlap, executive and philanthropist, dies at 81

Marion County resident Al Dunlap, a retired corporate executive and prominent supporter of local organizations and Florida State University, died on Friday at age 81. Dunlap led several companies including Lily-Tulip, Kimberly-Clark and Scott Paper. Orlando to bid for 2026 WorldPride, would offer 'powerful' message a decade after Pulse

At the 10-year mark of the tragedy at Pulse Nightclub, the Orlando nonprofit Come Out With Pride hopes to lure a worldwide celebration of LGBTQ rights. The nonprofit announced it has submitted its intent to bid to host WorldPride in 2026, an event that could bring about 1 million attendees to the city. More from the Orlando Sentinel.
