› Tort reform group slams Florida for ‘excessive’ litigation
Florida loses more than $11.8 billion and 126,000 jobs each year to “excessive” litigation, according to an analysis released Monday by the Florida Justice Reform Institute. The analysis claims more than $7.5 billion in lost personal income, including wages, interest and rents — more than $357 for every person in Florida.

› Survey: Florida Keys Population Dropped After Hurricane Irma
An annual population survey in the Florida Keys shows how many people left the island chain after Hurricane Irma last year. The Bureau of Economic and Business Research at the University of Florida found that every Keys city and the unincorporated areas of Monroe County lost residents between 2017 and 2018.

› Businesses affected by red tide can get help at S.B.A. Recovery Center
The U.S. Small Business Administration is opening a recovery center on Bradenton Beach to help business owners who have been affected by red tide. The temporary SBA Center will be at the Tingley Memorial Library.
