  • 3,657 — Total number of jobs in Florida certified by the Department of Labor in 2017 as meeting the government test for workers with a set of skills for which Florida employers couldn’t find a qualified U.S. worker.
  • $9/hour - $350,000/year — Wages ranged from just under $9 an hour for a cook at an Indian restaurant in Orlando to $350,000 a year for a doctor at a Fort Myers cancer treatment firm.
  • $74,600 — Average wage offered at Florida firms

Employers who seek certification from the U.S. Department of Labor to hire foreign-born workers and get them a permanent U.S. visa to move here include some of Florida’s largest employers — and some of its smallest. Examples of jobs for which employers sought certification in 2018:

A crowd cheered and took photos as two loggerhead sea turtles slowly made their way through the sand and into the Atlantic Ocean. Monday's turtle release marked the end of their rehabilitation at the Loggerhead Marinelife Center in Juno Beach, Florida.
