Florida set to bring more transparency to its justice system

The Sunshine State is about to shine a light on its own criminal-justice system: Florida will soon become the first state in the country to require all of its counties to release certain data pertaining to jails, policing, prisons, and courts. A bill passed by the state legislature earlier this month requires counties to gather, standardize, and release significantly more data than before. More from CityLab.

Darden Restaurants beats profit forecasts

Darden Restaurants Inc. (DRI) on Thursday reported fiscal third-quarter earnings of $217.8 million. On a per-share basis, the Orlando, Florida-based company said it had net income of $1.73. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, were $1.71 per share. More from the AP.
