Chromalloy is on a Building Binge

The gas turbine supplier company is expanding.

Art Levy | 3/1/2011

Gas turbines supplier Chromalloy has been on a building binge, spending $30 million on a new industrial casting center in Tampa and announcing plans to spend another $5 million to build an adjacent 40,000-sq.-ft. facility where the company will make ceramic cores used to cast superalloy turbine engine vanes and blades. Tom Trotter, vice president and general manager, says the new facilities will "enable Chromalloy to participate in significant growth opportunities, primarily in the power generation and commercial and military aerospace markets." He adds that the company, whose customers include airlines and the military, chose to expand its Tampa operations over options it had to build facilities in Texas and Nevada.
