National Institutes of Health Funding

In 2006, the largest NIH awards to private, non-university, non-state funded institutions in Florida were:

  • $11.01 million: Jaeb Center for Health Research in Tampa, a free-standing non-profit that coordinates clinical trials and research into eye diseases and diabetes
  • $9.73 million: Mayo Clinic Jacksonville
  • $1.5 million: Altor Bioscience in Miramar, a venture-backed clinical stage biopharmaceutical company
  • In 2015, the largest NIH awards to private, non-university, non-state funded institutions in Florida were:
  • $35.90 million: Scripps Florida
  • $22.45 million: Mayo Clinic Jacksonville
  • $11.3 million: Jaeb Center for Health Research
  • $3.92 million: Nemours Children’s Clinic in Jacksonville
