Florida health insurance rates to rise
Florida residents will be paying an average increase of 13.2% for individual health care insurance in 2015, according to preliminary numbers from the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation. According to the story in Miami Today, no data has been released yet on employer plans for 2015. However, Health News Florida says the 13.2% number is misleading, because it's an average based on all the Silver plans, but not based on how the public will actually buy (at the low-cost end of the spectrum.)
Consumer prices fall 0.2 percent in August
U.S. consumer prices edged down in August, the first monthly drop since the spring of 2013, as gasoline, airline tickets and clothing prices all fell. It was the latest evidence that inflation remains under control. More at the AP.
Lennar posts higher-than-expected profit as home sales rebound
Lennar Corp, the second largest U.S. homebuilder, reported a better-than-expected 47 percent jump in quarterly profit as it sold more homes at higher prices, and its shares rose as much as 6 percent in premarket trading. More from FOX Business and the AP.
