Who Said That?
Florida Trend's Quote of the Day
"It shows that women can be just as bad as guys. But in a good way."
On the morning the news cycle was filled with the death of Cosmo magazine founder Helen Gurley Brown, 52-year-old Palm Beach Gardens nurse Karen Harris and her two college-age daughters were poolside at the Hard Rock ogling a half-naked firefighter as the Doors' “Love Me Two Times” played in the background.
Ronny Arvelo, of Hollywood Fire Rescue, had removed his shirt to pose for a photo shoot to promote the release of the 20th anniversary edition of the South Florida Firefighters Calendar. The 24-year-old Coral Springs resident was unfamiliar with Brown's influence over multiple generations of women and the sexual freedom his generation takes for granted.
But he's all for the vibe he sees in his girlfriend's copies of Cosmo, and the lustiness he's been told to expect from the Aug. 30 calendar unveiling party at the Hard Rock.
“It shows that women can be just as bad as guys. But in a good way,” Arvelo added. “We wouldn't be able to do this without them. They buy the calendars.”
