Miami has 14,566 condominium units under construction as of Sept. 30, with another 63,776 in the permitting pipeline or approved for construction.
By contrast, 9,250 condo units were completed in Miami between 1995 and Sept. 30, 2005.
The ambitious array of projects on Miami's changing skyline is staggering, real-estate experts say, even considering many plans will never get off the ground because of soaring construction costs, a tightening of skilled construction labor, a pullback by bank lenders and rising interest rates.
